Saturday, February 27, 2010 Day 89, Asia mile 1032, Eurasia mile 3828 Tblisi, Georgia Hi Everyone! John has passed the 1000 mile mark on this segment of the prayer walk and we have reached Tblisi! It's time to sing the Hallelujah Chorus! To our north we can see the Caucasus Mountains, which look like a foreboding Antarctic landscape, and have felt the effects of the north wind blowing on us from that direction. Thank the Lord we don’t have to cross them or Antarctica on this trip! We will have the blessing of meeting with Joy, a fellow Minnesotan, this weekend at the local YWAM base and hopefully can soon pull the camper into ‘dry dock’ to get ready for the big dessert crossings that are ahead. Our water pump is on the fritz, we need a roof rack to carry extra tires, etc, and we’ll need to stock up on food and supplies. Plus all of that, we are looking so forward to fellowshipping with other Christians! God is good! We’ll meet our son, David, at the Tblisi airport this Wednesday, and are excited about that too. Please keep him in your prayers as he’s away from his wife, Trisha, for this next while and please pray for her as well. May the Lord work a wonderful blessing into their marriage because of their willingness to surrender these next few months to Him and to His purposes in the earth. I was in prayer yesterday about our financial status, bringing all my worries about the provision that we need to the Lord. I spent some time singing to Him in worship and then asked Him what He was thinking about all of our unanswered details on the road and at home. I had the sense that He wasn’t worried but was laughing and filled with joy. “Enter into the joy of your Master!” He seemed to say to me. Then I saw Him shake His head back and roar with laughter and as He roared His appearance changed into the “Lion of the Tribe of Judah”. With each roar that He uttered, small stones went bouncing here and there and I realized that they were the details of every provision that we need to complete this mission, skipping into place. It seemed that my simple worship of Him in the midst of all the uncertainty had caused Him to have great joy and brought on His roaring laughter which was so powerful in its effects. Whenever the Lord shows us a glimpse of what is actually happening in the spiritual realm it is so encouraging and provides something for us to hang on to in our journey here below. I am so grateful to Him and so desperate for His presence to continue with us! Thank you so much for your love and encouragement to us here on the road. Please keep John’s 60 year old body in your prayers for strength and endurance. His left foot has been giving him frequent episodes of shooting pain as he walks, possibly from something called Plantar Fasciitis. It certainly reminds him of his mortality if nothing else and a healing would be most welcome! We also need to get our visas for Azerbajan this week. Please pray that God will give us grace for all of those details, that the finances will be provided, and that we will be allowed to bring the Portuguese camper across the border from Georgia. From Azerbajan we hope to get 6 month business visas for Kazakstan, ferrying the camper across the Caspian Sea and working our way to China from there. Our friend, Joy, visited the Iranian embassy on our behalf and they told her that no Americans are being allowed into their country at all right now, so that land appears to be a closed door at the moment. Also the Turkmenistan government will not issue a long enough visa for us to walk across their land, so Kazakstan seems to be our open door. As we head east from Georgia it sure seems like we’re entering a new world. Please keep us in your prayers and we’ll keep you in the loop on what’s happening as we can find Internet access along the way. We love and miss you with all of our hearts. May the Lord accomplish His purposes in each of our lives and in His world, in the mighty name of Jesus! Let’s each enter into the joy of our Master, worship Him and trust that He will cause all of the uncontrollable details in our lives to skip into place. It's our only way forward! Love, John and Sandy
